That's My World Tuesday; Patience is a virtue...

And can yield some excellent photos. Using my tripod and the Olympus

I set up "shop" on my deck to capture these pictures of the rising full moon.

The right settings make all the difference

I capture these to shots using my Olympus adjusted to the sport/action

setting in sequential shooting speed mode (shoots 3 frames per

second) and the flash turned off. And an Olympus XD picture card.

Another lightning capture...

The weather in central Ohio has been chaotic lately to say the least.

We were informed, via the local PSA station, that we were under a

thunderstorm warning. While Nick (and I) readied our garage for the weekend

community garage sale, I lugged both cameras with me to capture the lightning

that was sure to accompany the thunder. We found out later that this bolt actually

hit a tree one street away from our home.

I'm happy to report I was able to capture 10-12 great shots in 400+ attempts.

SkyWatch Friday; Lighting triple treat!

These are all 3 lightning shots I captured last Friday night. The first

one is a bit blurry. The crash of thunder that accompanied the lightning

frightened me and I obviously shook the camera.

This was the view from our beach house last summer as we

vacationed on Hatteras Island, North Carolina.

Flower Close-Ups

I'm always amazed at the clarity and sharpness of some

pictures. And these flowers are some of my favorites.

That's My World Tuesday; Blooming flowers

These are the white flowers we planted two years ago. I posted pictures of
the red ones when they opened last week. I adjusted the Olympus settings to
nature macro so the details of the subject are sharp and clear. Enjoy!

Lightning captured....part II

This is the second picture I was able to capture Friday night.

Lightning captured....

I was rudely jarred from my slumber last night when brilliant flashes of light made

their way through the window shade. Earlier in the day I adjusted the settings on my

Olympus Evolt E-410 so I wouldn’t find myself messing with it in the dark should we loose

power again. I should have modified the Nikon L18 as well since that was what I used.

I was able to capture 3 really good lightning pictures out of 75 attempts. If you want

SkyWatch Friday; Columbus evening sky

A beautiful evening sky in central Ohio. Spring is my favorite

season for watching the sky and changing weather. These pictures

were captured with my Olympus EVOLT E-410 using a Kingston

Elite Pro 133X compact flash.

Sailing.....

The blue and white building appears like a sail out of the Cincinnati

skyline. Just across the Ohio River, in Covington Kentucky, sits The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge, a 22 story crescent-shaped residential building of condominiums.

My World Tuesday; A-Very-Mini-Times-Square

Across the street from the Ohio capital building is what I've dubbed

"the mini Times Square". The corner of High and Broad features

news, advertising and sports updates.

The Covenant

More morning flowers..

We planted these (and a set of white ones as well) two years ago

and the bulbs have multiplied. I had to grab my Olympus and

capture these still dew laden this morning.

Now, if I could only remember what they're called...

Morning rose....

When I let Hershey out this morning I noticed how lightly the raindrops

remained on the petals of my mini rose bush. I had to grab the Evolt E-410

and capture some close-ups. ENJOY!

SkyWatch Friday; Lighting

I'm posting this again for SkyWatch Friday. Last week Mr. Linky had

some problems and I was shutout.

The first picture is the original, unaltered shot.

I used my Olympus Master 2.0 program "auto-correct" to lighten up

the pic and I found it a bit more dramatic. Which one do you prefer?

My World Tuesday; Summer travel...

With summer months come travel. This is downtown Cincinnati as we crossed

the Ohio River from Kentucky.

When the boy comes home...

On Tuesday Nick and Christopher attended game 3 of the Stanley Cup

in Pittsburgh. My son has been a Penguins fan for 15 years so the tickets

made for an appropriate fathers day gift. I, on the other hand, was left at home to

wash, dry and fold nine loads of my "little mans" laundry. To which I did offer to do,

so no sympathy for me.

The Short North

This is the north end of the Short North in downtown Columbus.

SkyWatch Friday; Central Ohio thunder storms

And with thunder comes lightning, a most coveted picture.

I was finally able to capture lightning across the central Ohio sky, and it only

took 64 bad photos before I snapped this one. Enjoy!

Riding the storm out....

This spring storm came out of the southwest and took central Ohio by surprise.

It was a bit scary the these clouds seemed to blanket the area in a matter of minutes.

High winds, hail and lightning accompanied the rain. Later in the evening I was able

to capture a lightning strike, but I'm saving it for SkyWatch Friday. So you'll need

to check back Thursday afternoon for that awesome shot.
